Yep - looks like you are well and truly rumbled.
You will now be disfellowshipped and die at armageddon.
ps = have yourself a merry little christmas.....
wow i guess the elders still do exisist !
i wasn't sure since they have only stopped by once in the last almost four yrs.. here is what has them all in a tissy........ i guess the lighted deer and lights on the railing screams christmas .....i was going for cheerful winter ,guess i overshot.. .
here is how the conversation went :.
Yep - looks like you are well and truly rumbled.
You will now be disfellowshipped and die at armageddon.
ps = have yourself a merry little christmas.....
i heard the tell tale clattering noises..... yet...did i bother to back anything up...noooooo.
did i go to the store and buy that external hard drive with the automatic back up software?.....noooooo.
yep...hard drive crashed....data unrecoverable (probably is recoverable but for what cost?..
Take your hard drive and put it into the freezer - thats right - in the freezer.
Let is get covered in frosty ice particles.
Then take it out and plug it straight back in to a PC/Laptop or via a USB interface cable. It wont give you long but perhaps long enough to recover some data.
The cold makes the Hard Drives platters contract slightly allowing the reader to do its job - as its heats up they start to expand again and the reader starts to touch the platters - which is almost certainly the problem with your drive - the reader should never actually have physical contact with the platters.
The scotsman
Sorry to hear that.
There are a few idiots on here - but as was said - you'll get that everywhere.
Is JWN losing its MoJo????
whisky - which is best?.
scottish, irish or bourbon?.
""You are sadly mistaken, my friend. No one does whiskey like the Irish.""
I agree the Irish are good at the old whisky - but yae canny beet a wee dram of the genuine article from Scotland.
The scots are rubbish at fitba but were great and making (and drinking) whisky.
whisky - which is best?.
scottish, irish or bourbon?.
WHAT!!!
You've got to ask????
Scottish Whisky is by far the best - and let me tell you, I have tried many!
I like the other spirits out there but the scots have got the best.
I would recommend that you go with a single malt rather than a blend. Bowmore, old Pulteney or Auchentoshan are smashin.
I may come across ever so slightly biased on this subject!!!
as we all know the net is chock full in conspiracy theories, bible prophets and end of the world prognosticators.
some of the things being promoted are ufo invasions, end of the world in 2012, asteroid strikes, the rapture, aliens disquising themselves as humans, a one world government and a new world currency.
all this just scratches the surface.
If the 2012 prophecies are anything like the movie they are sure to disappoint! Though it is an interesting subject. The Mayans calender points to Dec 21 2012 as the rebirth of the world I think. Tell you what Dec 20th 2012 - what a party that will be!!!!
just wondering how all you slow faders are doing.i know this subject is discussed many times, but personally i wish it was more.we should post every once in a while just to say how we are doing,we need to encourage each other.as for me,it is still going very slow.right now i'm looking into the history that is being covered up.i have learned so much just by reading the older threads.it is very painful for me because this was the truth.and to be finding out so much crap that 99% of jw don't even know,it just is unbelievable.i have cut my field service down, and miss more meetings then i ever did.i'm hoping the sister that is in my face all the time, trying to help me,will forget about me soon......so how are you doing?.
My fade is doing nicely - thanks for asking. It has now been 1 year, and 10 months since my last meeting. Elders have not visited for ages now - they finally got the message. Though I do expect the pre-memorial visit early next year. There is life after Watchtower - ah freedom!!!!!!!
what more do the creationists want?
http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2009/11/speciation-in-action/.
on one of the galapagos islands whose finches shaped the theories of a young charles darwin, biologists have witnessed that elusive moment when a single species splits in two.. in many ways, the split followed predictable patterns, requiring a hybrid newcomer whod already taken baby steps down a new evolutionary path.
Yep, those pictures of birds that appear to have made more birds has convinced me utterly that evolution must be true!!!!!!!!
This is yet another example of variation "within" a species being punted as "proof" for the adult fairytale that is evolution.
im working on my exit strategy out of the watchtower org.
ive set my mind to be out by the end of 2010 or mid 2011. .
id like to avoid getting df and disassociating my self is also an undesirable option.
I was an elder and faded successfully - for me it went like this -
Resigned as an elder and blamed it on pressure at work (which in my case was partly true) but I also told them that I just needed a break from being an elder. No great pressure was put on me to change my mind.
Over the next 5 / 6 months I started to miss meetings, just a few at first and gradually increased the frequency. I was asked to join the TMS but I refused - ths got a few thinking I was depressed!!!!
At the same time I was feeding bits of "evil apostate" info to Mrs Scotsman to hopefully wake her mind.
But I knew in my heart that I would need to come clean with my wife eventually - I hated keeping secrets from her. So one thursday afternoon I told her of my intention to leave the org - well It broke her heart - many many tears. (read my previous post about this!) Her response was to be expected - they think its THE truth. She told me that she hated the idea of being in the paradise without me.
We have a particular painting that is of a man and woman walking through a beautiful landscape - we always use to say that was us in the new order - now it was being taken away. It was trully a heart-stopping conversation!
Anyway - 2 months after this we decided to move house - to a totally different area - I saw this as my chance to break away. Its a pretty extreme method to help a fade but in my case it worked. Once we moved to the new area about 2 weeks passed and Mrs Scotsman asked me to tag along to a few meetings until she got to know a few people so I said ok. (at the time she secretly thought it would make me change my mind about leaving the org.) So I we went to a Sunday meeting - within 5 minutes I knew it would be my last - I just could not bear the dross coming from the platform.
After the meeting I told Mrs Scotsman that I was not going back "I just can't continue with a clear conscience". Because I was new to the area I got very little pressure from local elders - 1 visited a few times but that was it.
3 months passed and 2 elders took my wife aside at a meeting to check that I was not saying negative things about the org. A report had been passed to the local BOEs that I was - the truth was I had'nt - an untruth started by "someone"!
Well Mrs Scotsman was embarrassed at this as they had not been discreet in taking her aside - she was new to the cong and many saw her being taken aside by the elders! She came home and never attended another meeting. She read CoC and now knows the truth about the truth.
Turned out my little bits of "evil apostate" material had already been having an effect on her mind.
We have lost many fiends and family are a bit wary of us but we still have contact. We also made many new friends.
We both still have a firm belief in God but are in no hurry to join any religious group.
As for the picture of the man and woman walking through the beautiful landscape - its on the wall in our lounge - but it holds a whole new meaning for us both - but to this day looking at it still makes me feel the heartbreak of that Thursday afternoon - but it worked out well in the end....
I hope my rather long-winded post goes to show that it can be done - freedom from JW land is possible.
The Scotsman
how many elders are here?.
i dont know if this topic has been posted before.
but after realizing that i sort of resurrected an old post from outofthebox, i thought of starting a new one with the topic above.
I was an elder for 5 years.
One of the most stressful experiences of my life.
Resigned as an elder Oct 07, last meeting was Feb 2008, wife followed me 4 months later.
They can take our lives, but they'll never take our FREEDOM!!!!!
